Our next WUPS! meeting is on Monday 8th July at 8pm. Thank you to those of you who were able to attend our last meeting, we had a truly enjoyable time rambling through “Graham’s Three Chord Trick” songbook which we had never actually used at a meeting before, as Graham had designed it as a self help guide to aid beginners in their quest to start learning to play the ukulele. It made a pleasant change to use it as a programme for the evening, and many have commented that it was fun to play some “easier “chords for a change! So thanks again Graham.
We encountered some “discussion ” when playing Liverpool Lou regarding the appropriate key to play and the correct phrasing to sing. It appears as song 23 in book 7 – and also as song 11 in the Three Chord Trick book. We will be using songbook 7 at our forthcoming meeting and Phil has taken the time to research the song and decided we will sing it again at the meeting in the key of F and in the manner of the DUBLINERS version which can be found on Youtube. Please take the opportunity to watch their video on https://youtu.be/JWbFMxwcEbE before the meeting.
There is still the opportunity to submit a suggestion for a theme tune we can use to start and end our gigs, so if you wish to submit one for scrutiny please bring along 20 copies so that we can air it at the meeting.
Finally you may be interested to hear that we have two provisional bookings for 2020 already! One in Uckfield on 16th July as part of the Uckfield Festival, and one on 2nd December at the Hurstpierpoint Monthly Social Group Christmas Party. Hope you’ve got a 2020 diary to put them in!
