Next WUPS! meeting 8.00pm 9th November, plus good news

Hi Folks, we have GOOD NEWS and MORE GOOD NEWS!

The first good news is that we have finally been able to publish our third songbook, appropriately named WUPS 3 !

This has taken quite a while to pull together as we were determined to try to get it right, and you’d be surprised at how many different versions of each song there are on the web. Anyway, it is now in our own format, and those of us who have been working on it hope that you will enjoy it. You will recall that this one is mainly composed of the requests from club members, and as we will soon be starting to put together WUPS 4 we are always open to more suggestions from you.

At our next meeting we will be trying out four more songs from the new book in addition to those we played last time (Hi Ho Silver Lining, I wanna be like you, Leaning on a Lampost, Mr Tambourine Man, Three Little Birds), and they will be A World without Love, Blueberry Hill, Brown Eyed Girl and End of the Line.

In case you are not very familiar with the latter two you may listen to them by Googling –
Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl – You Tube,
and www.travelingwilburys.com End of the Line. (Go to the ‘video’ heading on the site)

We have also taken the opportunity to convert the Christmas Songs book to our own format (thank you Lionel), and for those who may have downloaded the original book I should point out that it contains the same songs – but this time in alphabetical order, so there is no need to panic!

The second piece of good news is that we will be in the main bar in the Rose and Crown on Monday 14th December (the last meeting of the year) for a Friends and Family evening. It’s your opportunity to invite your family and friends along to see what we have been doing on our club nights – and to have a jolly good old sing-song!

Finally, thank you to all those who turned up at our last meeting for making it such an enjoyable evening. We’ve certainly come a long way since our first meeting in April!

Looking forward to seeing you all at our next meeting on 9th November…….
